Spotlight: Travis Knapp-Prasek

Alright man tell us a bit about yourself?

Travis Knapp Prasek SkatePerception SpotlightMy name is Travis Knapp-Prasek. I was born in New Jersey in 1984 and then my family headed south to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1988. I've been living in Raleigh the past 15 years and we got some spots. The girls are pretty, the country is close and the city is near.

What kind of setup are you working with?

I use two VCR's to edit... who needs computers? Nah... I got a fast computer (3.0E ghz, 160gb of space, and lots of RAM), a good video camera (Canon GL2), and a digi cam (Canon 300D). I also got a skateboard with a lot of scratch marks, some Indy trucks and a pair of soft wheels in my camera bag.

Does more satisfaction for you come from shooting photos or video?

If the skater isn't landing the trick then it's definately more fun shooting photos or skating. But there are a few of my friends who can just bust out first try lines and that's what I'm down for. I don't care how hard the trick is. Go fast and make it look good.

Everybody is still blown away in the aftermath of the release of Carolina Love, how does it feel having a major part in a big production video like that?

It's pretty cool. James (Post22) did a real good job putting the video together and I am glad to have been apart of it. So much work went into that thing. The first weekend I was officially filming for the video I got arrested for resisting a public officer. My camera was recording the whole time and the footy came out great. I was so stoked on the fact that I was getting the best footy of my life and I didn't even realize I was in the back of a cop car ready to head to jail. It was an experience. Not something I recommend but then again... everything happens for a reason.

So whats next, or are you just gonna wing it?

I was going to run the marathon but they don't allow skateboards. I am going to travel, film, skate, and just go to as many cities as I can. All of my filming and editing will now be for Signature video magazine... www.signaturevm.com

Alright say somethin to the kids trav.

Follow your own path. It's not the camera that takes the good photos... it's the person behind it. Enjoy life and do what you want to do. Skate or die.
