Without coincidence Perception as we know it was born on April, 4th 2004 (04/04/04) In a tiny bedroom in North Carolina. With no more than seventeen dollars to purchase the .com, a few web development tools and most importantly a very skilled group of individuals. No venture capitalists, no aggressive marketing plans, no executives in suites; just a group of artistically gifted skateboarders with a common passion.

These bright few had a need for a centralized meeting area to share ideas, critique work, discuss theories of their craft and most notably form a bond with others within this relatively small group of visual skateboard artisans. The first month saw no more than one hundred and ninety users, however, with the power of word of mouth that number has multiplied a hundred times over to where it stands today.

The rapid growth of SkatePerception was nothing short of astonishing, with only the word of mouth buzz as its marketing tool the community was progressing faster than anybody would have ever imagined. Within months a regular novices were producing work equal to (if not better) than that in the professional industry. This undeniable progression can only be accredited to a positive community never shy of sharing their trade secrets only in the name of seeing the community collectively grow professionally, together.

Although many other action sports media sites are popping up in the past few months trying to strike it rich in the wake of major website acquisitions, SkatePerception is and will be the only one that started with a large and devoted community before hand. The Staff as well as the masses of dedicated users couldn't be more excited of the new development to SkatePerception. We will continue our upward success for many years to come by our unrelenting loyalty and dedication to our community whom willingly returns it day in and day out.
