MySpace Layoffs

So I just read that social networking (not even sure what that even means yet) is laying off 30% of its employees which equates to about 1000 individuals, which raises the question with that many employees how does it function as wonderful as it does?
Now I don't feel so bad about SP always being in terrible shape. But in all seriousness, new stuff is on the horizon.
